Antique Obsession

This is a cool piece we found a while back at a flea market. It's a little reminiscent of folk artist "Cornbread". We cracked a piece of the base but as soon as we glue it back it'll be in good shape. Make us an offer and we'll discuss shipping.

At about 8 inches tall and two inches in depth, this wall pocket has two holes mounted in the back for hanging as a vase.  The raised image on the front shows a baby siting at a desk, with the words "Congratulations to the new BOSS." On the bottom is the gold label for "Ucago, Ceramics Japan."  We date this ceramic to the 1950s or 1960s.

We found this Humpty Dumpty rattle at a local antique fair and loved the design. The Humpty Dumpty image is the same on both sides.

Sized at 7.5M, these vintage high-heeled black shoes are in good condition and have great style.  The large fake jewels are all present, and are individually sewn onto the shoes over a metallic, gold leather design.  I had the caps on the bottoms of the high heels replaced by a local shoe cobbler.

Removed from a house in east Dallas about to be demolished, these four colorful hand-painted tiles portray advertising slogans and characters from the 1950's. Each measures about 4". The "space" tile has a scratch across the front, but overall the tiles are in good condition and are a great set of midcentury Americana.

Dating back 50 years or more, this adorable antique liquor flask is encased in leather. The vintage graphics depict cartoon and sayings that give a depression-era feel.

Marked Italy on the bottom and signed "A.D," this colorful midcentury pitcher depicts a geometric, stylized face. It measures nine inches tall.  The vase colors are indigo, light blue, red, olive green and sunny yellow.

Even though the venerable Route 66 gets most of the press, don't think there's not other highways itching to tell their story. Enter U.S. 80 and it's marathon yard sale this weekend.

"Close to 400 miles of historic U.S. 80 from Mesquite through Louisiana to Mississippi will be lined with bargains in a yard sale format.
The longest yard sale in the east Texas corridor will begin at 8 a.m. Friday and continues through Sunday and should draw crowds from far and wide looking for a bargain, according to Howard W. Rosser, East Texas Tourism Association (ETTA) Director."
